GEOMETRY, EDGES AND CONTROLLED INSTALLATION

The stair is designed as one coordinated system

Stone components must respond to the finished substrate, flight geometry, loads, balustrade, lighting and everyday use.

01

Substrate and flight geometry

We verify riser heights, tread depths, substrate flatness, turns, curves and installation sequence.

02

Treads and risers

Thickness, overhang, visible edges, built-up construction and joints between horizontal and vertical pieces are documented.

03

Landings and winders

Large, tapered and curved pieces are laid out before cutting, with the delivery route considered.

04

Edge and slip-resistant finish

Square edges, bevels, radii, grooves or textured finishes are selected around design and use conditions.

05

Skirting and interfaces

Walls, skirting, handrails, door openings and adjoining finishes are coordinated into clean serviceable details.

06

Lighting, joints and installation

Cables, profiles, movement joints, adhesives, sealants and service access are coordinated in advance.

ESTIMATE

What determines the cost of stone stairs

The estimate follows a review of the substrate, geometry, component count, actual material, edge treatment, lifting and installation.

Material and usable yield

Slab value, pattern selection, blank sizes, fitting allowance and cutting waste.

Component count and geometry

Straight, curved and winder treads, landings, risers, skirting and exposed-side cladding.

Surface and edge treatment

Polishing, honing, flaming, bush-hammering, grooves, bevels, radii and complex profiles.

Logistics and installation

Templates, delivery, floor level, lifting, interior protection, substrate preparation, installation and sealing.

FROM MEASUREMENT TO COMPLETED STAIRS

The RoyalStone stair process

01

Consultation

We review photographs, drawings or visualisations and clarify the stair type, material and use conditions.

02

Substrate measurement

Actual flight geometry, heights, depths, landings, turns, walls and installation access are checked.

03

Material selection

Specific slabs are presented and the pattern, surface finish and anti-slip solution are agreed.

04

Drawings and layout

Every component, thickness, edge, joint, skirting detail, interface and installation sequence is documented.

05

Fabrication

Components are cut, calibrated, edged, grooved, polished and checked as a complete set.

06

Delivery and installation

Components are delivered, the property is protected, pieces are fitted, installed, sealed and inspected.

MEASUREMENT PREPARATION

What should be ready for the final measurement

A plan, photographs and approximate dimensions are enough for an initial estimate. Final measurement takes place after the structural substrate and key adjoining elements are defined.

01

Completed structural substrate

The concrete or steel flight should be complete, stable and accessible for a geometry check.

02

Finished floor levels

Lower and upper floor levels and the thickness of adjoining finishes must be established.

03

Walls and door openings

Plaster, cladding, doors and other interfaces must be reflected in the final dimensions.

04

Balustrade and handrails

Fixing points for glass, metal or balusters are coordinated before the stone components are fabricated.

05

Lighting and cables

Profiles, power supplies, channels and service access are defined before templates and cutting.

06

Delivery route

Doors, turns, stairwells, lifts and floor level determine component size and installation order.

KYIV AND THE KYIV REGION

Measurement and installation at the property

We work in private houses, apartments, offices, restaurants, hotels and public interiors across Kyiv and the Kyiv Region. An initial estimate can be prepared remotely from photographs or drawings.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What to know before ordering stone stairs

How much do natural stone stairs cost?

Cost depends on the actual material, number and geometry of treads, landings, risers, edge and surface treatment, substrate condition, delivery and installation. Photographs and approximate dimensions are enough for an initial estimate.

Which stone is best for stairs?

Textured granite is often selected for heavy traffic and exterior use. Marble or quartzite may suit formal interiors. The final recommendation depends on the actual stone and use conditions.

Can an existing concrete stair be clad in stone?

Yes, provided the substrate is stable, sufficiently accurate and allows the required build-up. Actual dimensions and floor levels are checked before fabrication.

How can stone treads be made less slippery?

Honed or textured finishes, anti-slip grooves or specialist inserts may be used. The solution is selected for the material, location and expected traffic.

When should final measurement take place?

After the structural flight is complete and finished floor levels, walls, doors, balustrade and lighting are defined. Earlier dimensions are suitable only for an initial estimate.

Can you fabricate curved and winder treads?

Yes. Their geometry is captured with templates or accurate drawings, while pattern layout and joints are agreed before cutting.

Can stair lighting be integrated?

Yes, provided profiles, cables, power supplies and service access are designed in advance. Stone components are fabricated around the approved detail.

How long do fabrication and installation take?

Timing depends on the material, component count, edge complexity, substrate readiness and logistics. The programme is agreed after measurement, stone selection and drawing approval.

Does RoyalStone work across the Kyiv Region?

Yes. Measurement, delivery and installation are available across Kyiv and the Kyiv Region, subject to route, floor level, access and component dimensions.
